The following are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about Hypnotherapy, NLP and Mentoring/Coaching.
Q. I don’t think I can be hypnotised. The last time I tried it, nothing happened.
A. Most people can be hypnotised. Those who can’t typically fall into the categories of the very young, the very old, those without the ability to use their imagination, or concentrate and of course, people who don’t want to be hypnotised. You cannot be hypnotised against your will and some people need different approaches, e.g. people such as actuaries who continually analyse things. But it is not always necessary to go into a deep trance for the session to be effective. Call me for a chat if you have any more questions about it.
Q. What is involved in a hypnotherapy session?
A. First I will find out a bit more about you and what you need and ask you to complete a couple of forms. Next, I will explain what hypnotherapy is and is not and allay any fears or concerns you may have. Then we start the process of hypnosis, which is a very pleasant and relaxing process during which I deliver the therapy part. Finally, you are brought back to full alertness. Sounds good doesn’t it?
Q. Can I bring someone with me?
A. Of course you can, providing you don’t mind them hearing what you may decide to tell us. But warn them that they may end up hypnotised or at least very relaxed themselves.
Q. What is involved in a Mentoring programme?
A. A full programme consists of an initial explanatory and exploratory session lasting about an hour. This session explores your current life balance and identifies your goals. Because it is important to maintain a balance, ideally two or three goals will be identified. Thereafter, weekly sessions lasting about an hour each are advisable until the desired outcomes are achieved. Mentoring can take place quite adequately over the telephone although if the client prefers, face to face sessions can be arranged.
Q. Can I have a free consultation?
A. For more complex issues where a number of sessions are likely to be required, the first session will include an initial consultation at the end of which the potential client is free to leave without paying. Once the treatment starts, the fee will become payable at the end of the session. This will give you the opportunity to clarify how a particular therapy and/or mentoring will benefit you and for us to decide if we can work together.
There is no fee chargeable and no obligation from a telephone call.
Q. I’m shy, my problems are very personal and I don’t really want to tell people about them.
A. Quite right too. As a client, your confidentiality is assured, even after we stop seeing you. Please refer to the About page and see the section on Confidentiality and Ethics. Additionally, the beauty of NLP is that we often don’t need or want to know what the issue is. We help you re-code the way you see the problem and only you see it during the session(s). You can rest assured that as professionals we are totally non-judgemental and objective.
Q. What happens if I start a mentoring programme with you but for some reason it isn’t working?
A. That’s not a problem. If that happens you would be referred to another associate with whom I think you would get on better or, if none were suitable you would be given a refund any money paid in advance and owing to you and you can stop there and then.
Q. I don’t live in Edinburgh, will it matter?
A. Obviously hypnotherapy works best if we are both in the same place, but we have successfully used a customised CD and sent this to a client then used telephone mentoring to reinforce the therapy. For Mentoring and for EFT and NLP work, distance is not really a problem providing you have access to a telephone or the Internet. I have Skype capability providing free PC to PC voice calls or local rate calling to my Skype number from anywhere in the UK. For clients outside the UK, special arrangements can be made.
Q. How much does it cost?
